Destination

Merida, Mexico

Merida is one of Mexico's most welcoming cities for travelers, with a wide range of colonial hotels, guesthouses, and a few larger properties. The historic center is safe and walkable, and many hotels occupy beautifully restored buildings.

Centro Histórico

The heart of the city has the highest concentration of hotels, from budget to boutique. Colonial mansions turned into B&Bs and small hotels are the highlight; expect $40-120/night. You're steps from the main plaza, markets, and restaurants.

Paseo de Montejo

The grand avenue lined with old mansions has a few upscale options and a more relaxed, leafy feel. Slightly higher prices but still good value compared to beach destinations.

Budget and Hostels

Merida has excellent hostels and budget hotels, many with pools and social areas. Dorms from $10-15, private rooms $25-50. Perfect base for day trips to cenotes and ruins.
